I met him on December 9, 1999...I loved him from the moment our eyes met.
In fact that very night as I was eating dinner with my mom, I told her "mom
today I met the man I am going to marry". She put it off as just a whim. I
had dated a Marine for almost 4 years at that point. He wasn't nice to me,
and I didn't love him anymore, so I broke our engagement. Then I met

He was a Marine, but he was a different kind. Everyone is Sir or Ma'am,
everyone is someone special to him. That is what I loved so dearly about
him. He was down on himself, because he was divorced and his wife had
cheated with another man while they were married, and so I was a bit
shocked at what I had to say. I looked him dead in the eye and said " Look,
you can either be the World's doormat, or you can pick yourself up, dust
yourself off and get on with the business of living". I couldn't believe my
ears. Christmas was coming up, so I invited him over for dinner as his
family was too far away to go home to. He came to my surprise, and even my
mom noticed the connection at that point. That night as I lie in bed, my
mom and I talked about him, she really like him and so did my dad and
brother. Our whole family loved him already. The next weekend, we went to a
wedding of our friend, and he caught the garter, and all the while swearing
he'd never marry again. Then something happened, something spectacular, we
had this long talk one night, and before I knew what was happening, he was
at my door, asking my dad for my hand in marriage...I couldn't believe my
ears. Then he was down on one knee, asking ME to be his wife. Needless to
say my answer was yes, and now in a week and a half, on March 18, 2000 I
will become a Marine Wife, and I hear its the hardest job in the Corps.
