-=NIGHTWATCH

Guten Tag! My husband is in the US Army and we are currently stationed in
Germany. Ken is the 1SGT of a tank company and rarely does he sleep in a bed or
on a cot while gone to the field. Once or twice in a months time, he will set
his cot up in the back of his humvee and actually lay down. One night, while
home alone thinking about him and missing him desperately, I was inspired while
picturing/hoping he might be sleeping on his cot that night. Thus was born,
nightwatch.
Sincerely,
Sheleen Knowlton

-=NIGHTWATCH

For my darling husband, Ken, while gone to the field

I hope you feel my spirit there
As you lie down and sleep
I am watching you
And I am watching over you.
My spirit is singing to yours
And I am carrying you away to that place
The place where only soul mated lovers go
For a few hours
As you sleep
And dream
You are mine
If anyone comes for you
I will tell them to go away
If you become chilled
I will cover you.
If your brow grows moist
I will pat it dry with my hair
If you are in need of drink
I have a cup
As early morning dawns with the sunlight and dew
My whispers will awaken you
I will call you back from that place
And you will face a new day with the courage of a lion
It is then that I must again slip away
My nightwatch has ended
You are strong
And brave
And have been called to serve
I will think of you throughout my day
And you will know
I will pray for you
And you will feel strengthened
Every night
Long past sundown
I hope you feel my spirit there
As you lie down and sleep
I am watching you
And I am watching over you
My spirit is singing to yours
And I am carrying you away to that place
The place where only soul mated lovers go
For a few hours
As you sleep
And dream
You are mine

Your loving wife,
Sheleen
