Want to do an Interview?

I'm a journalist who has been assigned by All You, a women's magazine published by Time Inc., to interview three women in  different situations whose lives have been changed by the Iraq war.  One woman is a soldier overseas, another is a Muslim-American woman, and the third we are hoping to profile is a mother raising her children alone while her husband is with the reserves in Iraq.

We're interested in hearing about the challenges: How does the wife deal with the big dip in income that occurs when  her husband's loses his civilian pay and goes on army pay?  How does she cope with the  constant degree of uncertainty -- is he OK?  when will he come home?  Even well meaning friends who ask how her  husband is doing overseas, may forget the struggles she faces alone back home. How does a mother explain war to a child?

Any mother/wive who is interested. can contact me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  The interview will only involve a conversation by telephone.  I'll also request that she send a snapshot of herself  to the magazine. The resulting profile would appear in the December issue of All You.  Although that seems a long time away, my actual deadline is July 30th so I would like to interview women as soon as possible.

You can check out All You on the magazine website, AllYou.com  And should you want more on my background to make certain that I'm a legitimate journalist, information appears about me on Google. I'm the author of a non-fiction book, 8 Ball Chicks:A Year in the Violent Life of Girl Gangs Anchor/Doubleday 1997.

Thank you so much in advance for any help you can offer.

Sincerely, Gini Sikes
