Chili cook-off part of Fire Prevention Week activities

The U.S. Army Garrison Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) fire department staffs kicked off Fire Prevention Week activities with the annual chili taste testing competition Monday and followed with a variety of educational events throughout the week on both installations. Right, more than 75 community members file in anxiously to get a taste of “fire-alarm” chili at the fire station on Fort McPherson. Below left, judges gather evidence before making a final decision during the competition. The chili was judged on color, consistency, aroma, taste and aftertaste. Photo by Robin Brown
