Description:

The Navy Recruit Training Service Ribbon may be awarded to enlisted personnel who have served as Recurit Divison Commanders under the specifications listed below:

  • Enlisted personnel of the Navy assigned to Recruit Training Command, Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, upon completion of a successful tour.
  • Personnel assigned in a support capacity (company assistants, echelon supervisors, liaison officers, instructors, or other personnel attached to the Recruit Training Command) are not eligible for this ribbon.
  • A successful tour is defined as one in which the Recruit Division Commander must have completed at least five divisions trained over a minimum tour length of three years. 
  • Personal standards require that the tour must be completed without disciplinary incidents throughout the tour.
  • For purposes of eligibility for this ribbon, completion of the initial tour may not occur prior to October 1, 1995.

Establishing Authority & Effective Dates

The Recruit Training Service Ribbon was established on March 17, 1998, by Secretary of the Navy John H. Dalton, and announced in EXECMEMO/SECNAV/980722/NDEDM/and SECNAVINST 1650.1F. 

This ribbon takes effect retroactively to October 1, 1995.
